MINO WARE
The ceramics made in the eastern region of Gifu Prefecture are know as Mino ware. Through its history of 1,300 years, wide variety of products from artistic pieces to tableware to tiles have been produced here.

Mino washi paper has a 1,300-year long history upholding traditional techniques of antiquity. The technique of making hand-made Hon-minoshi paper (the highest grade) was designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014.
The cutlery of Seki inherits the technique of Japanese sword making that dates back more than 700 years. Seki cutlery is one of the world leading brands known as the three “S” cutlery capitals along with Germany’s Solingen and England’s Sheffield.
Gifu’s abundant forest resource helped cultivate a unique culture of wood craftsmanship known as Hida’s craftsmanship. For over 1,300 years, the tradition and techniques have been passed down through generations to make a wide range of wooden products.
Sake is a Japanese liquor made from rice through fermentation. There are more than 50 Sake breweries in Gifu and each brewery produces Sake with unique characteristics.
