Gujo Mania - Gujo Dance Hand Washcloth
The Gujo dance is one of three major Bon dances in Japan and one of three famous folk songs (Gujo Bushi). It has been designated as an important, intangible cultural folk asset. You can learn how to perform the dance by following the instructions printed on this towel.

The Gujo Bon Dance, with its 400-year history, is a summer tradition in the town of Gujo-hachiman.
It is said that 70% of the participants are regular visitors. Especially during the Bon period, tens of thousands of people get together and dance all through the night. This washcloth called “tenugui” , is a traditional item with “Yukata”, too. On the tenugui, how-to instructions for the Gujo Bon Dance are printed. The town of Gujo-hachiman is the birthplace of modern screen printing. Each single year , we pick one of the ten Gujo dances to introduce the steps. The collection of total ten tenugui will be completed in 2018.
