KIRYU Inc., based in Gifu, Japan, reimagines traditional Japanese bonsai culture for modern lifestyles and introduces it to both domestic and international markets.

We design, create, and sell two distinctive bonsai brands: WITHERS, which transforms reclaimed real bonsai into contemporary art, and KIRYU, a new form of real bonsai preserved through our unique process to require no watering or maintenance.

We also create collaborative works incorporating Gifu’s traditional crafts, including Mino Washi paper, Mino roof tiles, and Mino Ware ceramics. By combining bonsai with local craftsmanship through a contemporary artistic approach, we introduce a new expression of bonsai art while sharing the culture, craftsmanship, and creativity of Gifu with the world.

Domestic sales

WITHERS has been exhibited and sold at some of Japan’s leading department stores, including Takashimaya, Hankyu Men’s Tokyo, Matsuzakaya, Hankyu Umeda, and Keio Department Store.
We have also held solo exhibitions, showcases, sales events, and workshops at hotels known for their strong focus on art and design, including THE TOWER HOTEL NAGOYA, Park Hotel Tokyo, ESPACIO NAGOYA CASTLE, The Peninsula Tokyo, and THE REIGN HOTEL KYOTO.

Overseas sales

WITHERS is sold to international visitors at renowned tourist destinations and luxury hotels across Japan.

We also reach customers worldwide through Kickstarter, one of the world’s largest crowdfunding platforms, as well as through international distributors and partners. To date, we have received orders from customers in more than 20 countries.

As a contemporary reinterpretation of Japanese bonsai culture, WITHERS continues to attract interest from customers across different countries and cultures.
