Enamel-glazed Arabesque Peony Yellow/Red 6.5 Daimyo Takahama Bowl

This bowl features dynamic color combinations. The peony pattern has long been familiar to the Japanese people, representing happiness and wealth. Reinforced by yellow and red glazes, this hybrid porcelain maintains its toughness and durability for years. Usually made in a throwing process, the rim tends to chip easily. However, our skilled artisans work by hand to make the rim round to prevent breakage. A special “enamel glaze baking” method is employed. After arabesque peony patterns are drawn in colors of red and black, the bowl is baked at temperatures as high as approximately 1,230 degree C. Paints are added into the melted glaze to produce color. The bowl is finished with a glossy coating to make it shiny and beautiful. The colors and patterns do not fade through repeated washing in a dishwasher.
