Shirakawa Tea in two cans

Flavorful and elegant tea carefully produced by tea professionals

In the Muromachi era (around 1400s), a master priest of the Banryuji temple in what is now called Higashi Shirakawa village brought tea plants from Uji City in Kyoto and suggested that villagers to grow them. This is considered to be the beginning of Shirakawa Tea. “Shirakawa Tea” is cultivated under the favorable conditions, including the altitudes of 650 meters, rich greenery, clear waters, and fresh air. Although the production amount is low, the high quality of Shirakawa Tea features a little astringency and mild taste. The plant species is called “Yabukita,” which has a unique and distinct scent and subtle sweetness. An engraved metallic plate is attached to the tea leaf can. They are equipped with inner lids to protect tea leaves from humidity. Two cans are placed in a paulownia box which gives a further touch of elegance.
