CHICA inc.
We manufacture fabric products from organic cotton spun on our Garabo throstle frame, a traditional cotton spinning machine.
The throstle spinning frame “garabo” is nicknamed after a Japanese onomatopoeia “gara-gara,” which is a sound the machine makes when it is spinning to make yarn. It was the first spinning frame that was domestically produced in 1876, and is said that there are only 5 of them remaining today.
Spinning yarn at a slower speed, Garabo produces soft yarn with a rustic texture. We use organic cotton which has the country of origin and farm clearly identified.
Spun with love, our yarn is soft as hand-spun yarn.
