The numbing aroma of grape sansho pepper

This shichimi pepper is made with plenty of grape sansho pepper from Wakayama Prefecture. It is characterized by the distinctive refreshing aroma and intense numbing sensation that is unique to grape sansho pepper. At Konoenya, we are committed to using domestically grown sansho pepper, despite the declining harvest of domestic sansho pepper. We remove the bitterness from the grape sansho pepper, dry it, and then carefully remove the branches and seeds. This removes the oil contained in the seeds, resulting in a highly fragrant sansho pepper.
Sansho shichimi pepper “WAKANAE” goes well with eel, yakitori, mapo tofu, dandan noodles, and yakiudon noodles, but even a sprinkle on curry will dramatically change the flavor.
It is also served at the restaurant on the luxury cruise ship “Asuka III.”
